Teacher knows best

In a peculiar campaign strategy, Mayor Micetich has published a political ad that manages to insult nearly every voter in the community. Micetich opposes the use of the referendum process to make major decisions about the future of Coal City. It is hard for me to conceive of any reason why the citizens of the Village of Coal City cannot be entrusted to participate in the decision making process for major issues. Is Micetich that much smarter than everyone else?

Actually, Micetich's official title is village president not mayor, but I'm not sure Micetich knows that - or maybe he thinks the voters are too dumb too know the difference. To answer your question, no, Micetich is not smarter than everyone else.

Micetich is becoming desparate.

At the learning leadership meeting he was part of an exercise that left him to respond to "If you could ask the President of the US anything, what would it be?"........His response....." I would ask him how he got stuck with that Nancy Pelosi"......incidentally no one laughed, but instead wondered....WHAT"S HE THINKING?

He needs to take a lesson from his older brother. That being the big decision of the day is where to locate the lawn chair in the yard down in FL. I know Nancy agrees.

Feel sorry for this guy? Why? He will sacrifice anyone to make sure his ego is not bruised. In January he hounded me and forty some other people to sign affidavits that he was the Mayor. Some people he basically harrassed with numerous phone calls. Nobody wanted to tell him he was acting like a fool. Then underhandedly getting his flunky to get one opponent to endorse his campaign. No concern that that kid will never be able to succeed in any election for the rest of his life. If he ever tries his opponents will make him relive his selling his soul, exposing him as a con artist, true or false. This ego thing is what you would expect from a kid, not a retired adult. I stopped going to City meetings right after he was appointed taking the flunkies place because of the job set up by the Mayor's neighbor who was a Trustee. Why did I stop? His attitude three years ago made me puke. Ads like this reaffirm my conviction, he is not honest with himself so he will never be honest to the people.

It is amazing how negative and personal King James has now made this election. Instead of fostering and encouraging participation in the election process and governing, are we actually witnessing pouting?

Even Micetich's supporters acknowledge that he is not the sharpest crayon in the box.

It has been said by his own close family associates that they know he wouldn't understand, but he would be better off not winning the election. He can move on with some other type of philanthropist works.

I think it is absolutely terrible how the city has treated Kim Scerine.

Kim poster --

Wait til you all get your postcards, what developers are paying for all this? Or is it the kid's union paying to back a registered Republican?

Hey Coal City, I'm glad to see you got your own blog now. Take your goofy Mayor and get out of Morris' space. Tell your Mayor & City Manager to go ride your bikepath and think about a budget.

Micetich is ok. He is trying to do waht is best for CC.

Big Jim and his crew have made such a nice town out of Coal City that not one of his own kids lives in the town. And of his nieces and nephews in the tribe I think there is only 2 who live in "his" town. Whats wrong with Coal City, not good enough for your own?

Kim Scerine gets our write-in votes for village president. Obviously she has more common sense and leadership ability than our current SELF-PROCLAIMED "leaders".

Kim really got screwed over by the city.

Micetich is against healthcare choices. Micetich does not want you to have the choice to go to the surgical center in Channahon.

Micetich is against senior citizens.

They city is in cahoots with the big developers. We all will pay, because the developers weren't made to do things right. Wait for the big school referendums. Property taxes will soar!

Watch for the big tax increase after the election.

Cronyism in Coal city is getting almost as bad as in Morris. We don't need a reputation like Morris.

That's right. Wouldnt wanna ruin the reputation of coaltucky

Now they say he is writing letters of endorsement to the Department of Energy in support of General Electric recycling spent fuel rods near the Dresden Nuclear Power Station. Supposedly he wants to git-er-done before he loses the election so that they have a letter from the (then) Mayor. I'm sure they are shifting the dates around on the letter to make it valid at whatever point in time. Does he care in the least about or health here when we have doctors investigating local cancer statistics like the forms at the library and everywhere. This is crazy.

It is time for the voters to take a stand against corruption and cronyism.

It is obvious that the Morris Daily Herald has already picked sides on the Coal City election; labeling Nelson as a "newcomer" despite that fact that he and his family have lived in Coal City for many years. Typical Coal City mentality - and typical Morris Herald mentality.

I hope he doesn't win the election. He is a terrible public speaker and doesnt treat the citizens very nicely.

Pretty soon Coal City will look just like Plainfield. What a pretty sight. Go look at Plainfied if you haven't been there lately. Rows and rows of nearly identical, cheaply built houses on tiny lots - oh, and three huge brand new schools! Guess who will be paying for those schools?

We don't need Morris-style cronyism in Coal City.

Coal City voters have spoken loud and clear. They are fed up with business-as-usual. Other mayors had better take heed - their day at the chopping block is coming.
