Election

In order to avoid cluttering up the other topics, this post was created to provide a forum for gloating and commiserating over the results of the recent election. Sledgehammer Morris is, of course, apolitical and will remain completely neutral.

District 101 election..... Ha ha ha.

Darrell Brown for Mayor!

Between the elections and Sanjaya being voted off, that's an end to a perfect day.

Coal City voters delivered a message loud and clear. They are tired of pay-for-play. Morris mayor is next on chopping block.

Morris 101 voters deserve credit for electing the right candidates for the right reasons, and not electing the candidates who were running to advance their personal agendas.

Nelson needs to do some major housecleaning. At least three appointed positions need to be considered. The voters elected him because they want a change. I hope he doesn't lose his nerve.

To Nappyho, who said "Darrel Brown for Mayor." God help us. Brown is a complete idiot. Just wait, he'll prove me right.

The only way he runs and wins, and is effective, is if he can hire his son Chris to run the show. Otherwise, he'll be in over his head the first time someone says abatement.

If you don't like Kopczick, fine. But, don't wish for an intellectual black-hole. You might get it.

Revenge candidates not elected to district 101. Is this finally the end of the Darlington saga?

The morris mayor already was on the chopping block. Oh wait no that was a slicer.

Congrats District 101! You rock!

Good luck District 54...here's hoping your awesome student test scores don't plummet! What?
Reduce benefits of teachers, eliminate a position, expect more of already overloaded principals with no or less money, that's the way to get money to reinstate music etc. Why would anyone want to teach or work in Dist. 54 with that black cloud hanging over your head?

I sincerely hope you prove me wrong District 54 Board. REMEMBER it's not about you! It's what is BEST for KIDS.

congrats to mercadante for giving the gop some life in this town.

Hoping that Neal Nelson eliminates the cronyism, the conflicts of interest and the incompetents. No names necessary, we all know who they are. Then next election Morris needs to to the same.

does it really matter dem or rep in local goverment. main thing is you should not be handing out jobs to family members or friends and not spend more than you take in. very simple thing to follow. this is not rocket science.

Sledge, did read the Joliet Herald article about Yorkville elections. They all lost, mayor, alderman are all gone. I guess Yorkville voters did'nt like secret meetings about new landfill in town. Maybe our local pols will stop with all the excutive session meetings and start letting the public know whats going on with Environtech and community landfill.

Hey keepitsimple, maybe the prerequisite for running for office around here is that you can't be a native moreassite. In other words, you have to be one of those outsiders who doesn't have family here. The truth is none of the hardcore native moreassites would ever vote for someone who isn't a part of the good old boy network. The whole thing is just a popularity contest anyway. Just look at who's running city hall. Name me ONE person who's lived here less than 10 years or who didnt grow up here. cronyism? what the hell do you EXPECT? You get what you vote for.

I love the way logic is to be suspended whenever someone throws out the line, "It's for the Children"..
When will mismanagement of funds and continuing education for a retiring school official be addressed? Let's shout "Hooray" that the board is finally being built with truly conerned locals rather than rubber-stamps of administration...

whenever you hear "it's for the children", it's usually NOT.

Why does GEDC give campaign contributions to just Dickie the Morris Mayor and not others?

How can this non-for-profit collect money from other Communities and then make contributions to Morris pols?

Anonymous said...

Well i remember reading in the MDH the Morris city council gave a big bunch of change to the GEDC last year. is it that chicken egg ???

How can they beg for money from our city tax-payers again? Pretty sure the city of Morris wrote them a check for about $10,000.00 last year.

Anonymous said...

Eddie good point, but the folks in district 101 had a chance to vote in two very popular guys that lived in Morris all their lives but decided to go another route. That dog don't hunt.

Congratulations to Darrell Brown and Don Matteson. We urge the new aldermen to join with the current aldermen to provide vigorous oversight of our mayor, hold the line on taxes, allow common sense economic development and serve the taxpayers, instead of political donors and allies

The voters of the first ward rejected Dick and Brian's hand-picked successor for Brian's spot. They are fed up with the cronyism and nepotism, just like the rest of the city.
