City of Morris exposed to civil liability?

Morris is not the first city to make creative use of sales tax rebate agreements.

The village of Lisle entered into a questionable sales tax rebate agreement and soon found itself named as a defendant in a lawsuit brought by the other municipality.

After years of litigation, a cash settlement was reached, as reported in this recent Chicago Tribune article.

Read the complete appellate court ruling in Village of Itasca vs. Village of Lisle.

The mayor of Grayslake knows about these shenanigans.

How much money do you suppose the Lisle village attorney made defending this lawsuit?

Tell our principals in city government not to leave town. This will end up with us taxpayers holding the bag, as usual.

When was the last time D Construction asphalted Brian's driveway?

Such short memories. Did we forget this same discussion a few years ago about the sales tax collected by a Grundy County store front business for many Will County (hint Channahon)businesses? No TIF rebates, just companies avoiding the higher Will County tax rate. Maybe if someone reviews the Grundy audit they can tell us how many MILLIONS in pure tax is diverted into Grundy. So who learned from who how to weave a tangled web?

It was Brian Feeney who brought the sales tax rebate deal to the city council. It was Brian Feeney who promoted it, cajoled the aldermen and lobbied for its passage. When this deal blows up in the face of the city council, the blame should be laid squarely at Brian Feeney's feet.

The Dist. 101 Superintendant has sold out the taxpayers and other school districts on TIF and cut a deal with Dick.

The city hall is the city's problem. Let the city figure out how to pay for the city hall. Let the city raise taxes and put a referendum on the ballot, if they think it will pass.

The job of the District 101 Superintendant is to look out for the school, the children and the taxpayers. It is not Pat's job to cover for the city's poor managment, at the expense of the taxpayers.

Why did loads of lumber from the eastside supplier head to a house in Goose Lake with the City of Morris Water Plant paying the bill?

Just remember "disgusted said" that the aldermen had a vote - even though Brian pushed this deal the Aldermen had the chance to vote "no" if they wanted to. We need to remember these Aldermen at election time. And it should be remembered if Brian ever tries to make his return.

The only two alderman left from 2004 agreement is Sereno and Wolfe.

I have 250 “NO TIF FOR CITY HALL” yard signs left.
If you would like one, please stop by the Morris Bakery or call me at home, 942-6800 and one will find its way to your house.
Using TIF tax dollars to build a city hall goes against everything the city promised the Morris schools since 1986. Millions of tax dollars over the years have been diverted from our children’s education. The Morris TIF agreement cost District 101 $450,000.00 State of Illinois funding last year alone. District 54 and Saratoga 60 were also adversely affected.
The Morris TIF agreement is one big reason our schools find themselves short on operating funds.

The mayor also promoted the sales tax rebate. Ellison was the only alderman to vote against the proposal.

Sereno, Wolfe and Kopczick should all be handed their hats and shown the door.

For the record, I'm not involved in tax rebate scheme, with Morris politicians. Happy St. Patrick's day!

Myron Brick has resigned as Will County democratic chairman in order to devote more time to his duties as CEO of Senreq. Maybe he can get the lights back on so Sleeveless Jesus doesn't have to work in the dark.

The city council really stuck it to the local car dealerships.

What's going on with the county squad car that's been parked on Freemont St. for so long. It seems like it hasn't moved in months. This car belongs to the taxpayers. Shouldn't it be in use? Just wondering....

The mayor was advocating the Gore Road warehouse behind the scenes. He is furious that the planning commission voted it down.

regarding the deputy's squad car.. some cops work at night.

I have NOT been involved in any threesomes with Morris politicians. Just wanted you to know.

At one point this winter that squad sat there covered with snow for days. Maybe the deputy was on his weekend.

Feeney's back let's let him fix it!

With Martha gone and Brian back, Dickie is in his glory. I wonder which alderman will be threatened by Dickie's henchmen now!!!!

Why did Brian come back? Does he need to have his driveway asphalted again?

I'm extremely disappointed of the Daily Fluff, but not surprised. They in general won't publish comments they don't like, that don't suit their political bent. I mean honest accurate comments, not slander, name calling, or lies.

Sledge, my child, a student at White Oak, tells me they had an assembly during school hours recently, the sole purpose of which was to push this Gus Macker stuff on the kids. My kid tells me that it's "only a $115.00 registration fee". The people should tell school administrators the keep these "ka-ching thing" schemes out or our schools. You people with kids currently at Dist. 54 know what I'm talking about. It's all about the $$$$$$.

So why is GUS MACKER still even going on now that missy is gone?
